Mix A Pancake
Have fun with the poem by trying this...
Here is one of our favourite pancake poems. With only 22 words, you have a good chance of learning it quickly!
Having learned it, turn it into a really fun performance your listeners can join in with. Create an action for each line that you can teach them. Make sure the action for each line is big, bold and distinct.
For example, when you say 'Mix a pancake' swoop your arms as if they were a giant machine folding ingredients together.
For 'Stir a pancake', make the biggest circle you can in front of you, as if you were stirring a giant pot.
See what else you can come up with - be creative!
Teach your listeners their actions. Then speak the poem several times, encouraging your audience to join in with words and actions. Start slowly and as they get the hang of it, get faster and faster!
Mix a pancake,
Stir a pancake,
Pop it in the pan;
Fry the pancake,
Toss the pancake, —
Catch it if you can.
